Creator Abstract: Henry and Julia Riegler (formerly Furtner) owned the Riegler Ice Cream Company, and later, the Riegler Confectionery Company in downtown San Antonio. This business was later maintained in part by Julia's daughter, Lillian Utley.

Biographical Sketch

Henry and Julia Riegler owned the Riegler Confectionery in downtown San Antonio, located at 231 E. Houston Street. Julia was a native Texan and considered to be a pioneer businesswoman in San Antonio, managing the confectionery for twelve years. Her daughter Lillian Utley maintained the business in part after her death in 1922.

The Riegler Family Papers is comprised of Riegler Confections materials, family correspondence, financial records, and personal papers from Julia H. Riegler, her former husband Louis J. Furtner, and her daughter Lillian F. Utley, newsclippings, and photographs. San Antonio music pamplets and ephemera, and writings from an unknown author are also included.
