The University of Texas at San Antonio Office of Facilities is a division of the Vice President for Business Affairs that oversees building construction, planning, and maintenance on UTSA campuses. The division is organized into six departments which report to the Associate Vice President for the Office of Facilities: Planning and Development, Operations and Maintenance, Engineering and Project Management, Housekeeping and Event Service, Business Operations, and Downtown Campus Facilities.
UTSA’s Office of Facilities was original created in 1973 as UTSA’s Division of the Physical Plant and was responsible for maintenance of UTSA’s Kroger Center campus and overseeing the construction of UTSA’s main campus at 1604. The Division of the Physical Plant’s first director was George Mangrem (1973-1987), Walter Grinke (1988-1993), José Geraldo (Lalo) Gómez (1994-1999), George Morales (1999-2006), and Dave Riker (2006-present).

The University of Texas at San Antonio Office of Facilities Records consists of campus planning files, architectural drawings, construction records, reports, surveys, correspondence, and project files that document the planning, design, construction and maintenance of the University of Texas at San Antonio campus. The collection includes records related to building construction projects on the UTSA campus including Phases I-II of Main Campus, UTSA Downtown Campus, and a majority of other building projects from the 1970s through the mid-2000s. The bulk of the collection are correspondence and project files of the Director of Facilities and the Director of Planning and Development. The collection is roughly organized into sixteen series by construction project, subject, or record type. The final series are project files of the Director of Planning and Development.
