![]() Inventory of the Nubian Notes collection, 1994-1996 and undated
Historical NoteNubian Notes was a quarterly magazine published in San Antonio, Texas with a circulation of 3,500 that addressed the importance of history in the African American community. Each issue contained features as well as regular columns, including "Suggestions and Sage Tea," "The Beat Goes On," "African American Firsts," and book reviews. Eight volumes, dealing with themes like pride and self-reliance, were published from 1995-1996 with Arrie Barnes Porter as editor and Nicholas Barrón II as graphic designer. Arrie Barnes Porter has a Master of Public Administration degree from University of Texas San Antonio. She has worked as a child advocate in juvenile court, a child protective specialist, in diversity training and as a speech writer for aspiring politicians. She is an author and poet.
