William O. "Bill" Ginn was a composer and arranger of film music, advertising music and commercial music for such performers as Leonard Cohen, Jennifer Warnes, Alejandro Escovedo, and Joe Scruggs.
Ginn was raised in Mississippi and graduated from the University of Texas in 1974 with a degree in jazz theory and composition. He was a member of the Austin jazz band Passenger, who provided backing for various touring musicians, including Leonard Cohen. Ginn recorded and toured with Cohen and Jennifer Warnes throughout the 1980s and 1990s. He was the musical director of Cohen's 1993 tour of the US and Canada. Ginn was nominated for a Grammy Award for Jennifer Warnes' song "The Singer Must Die." He also worked in film, scoring or performing in films such as "Winter People" and "The Man with Two Brains."
After returning to Mississippi in 2001, Ginn died of liver failure at the age of 52 in Lexington, MS in October 2004.
