Biographical Note

Margaret Techy (1886-1979) was an author, teacher, and needlework authority. Born in Romania, Techy came to the United States in the 1920s and became a U.S. citizen in 1928. She published articles on needlework in columns syndicated by the Central Press Association in Cleveland, Ohio, and taught classes at Hunter College in New York City.

The Margaret Techy needlework design collection, 1876, 1915-1961, is comprised of drawings, correspondence, books, diaries, a scrapbook, and photo plates relating to Techy's work as a needlework author and teacher. The collection also includes instructional materials from the periodical The Embroideress.
