Historical Note

One of Texas's earliest German families, the Leyendecker family took up residence on Cummins Creek in Austin's Colony in 1834. Johann Friedrich Leyendecker (1838–1908) established the Pearfield Nursery in Columbus County in 1876; his daughters, Katherine (Carrie) and Laura Leyendecker Brune remained in the family home and continued his business after his death.
