Biographical Note

Pat Kyser was born in Port Arthur, Texas, and studied journalism at the University of Texas at Austin. Kyser began quilting in 1968, and by the 1970s was publishing articles in quilting magazines. For 20 years she taught a correspondence course on quilting through the National Embroiderer’s Guild of America, as well as writing the “Pieces and Patches” column in Quilt World Magazine. Her quilts have been featured in quilt exhibitions all over the United States. Kyser currently lives in Huntsville, Alabama.

Acquisition Information

This collection was assembled by Pat Kyser, who sent the items to quilt historian Merikay Waldvogel of Knoxville, Tennessee, in 2009. Waldvogel then donated the materials to the Briscoe Center in 2013.
