A Guide to the Willie Newbury Lewis Narrative, 1935
Willie Newbury Lewis (1891–1985), author, socialite, and rancher was born on October 28, 1891, in Dallas. She married William Jenks Lewis, a man from the Panhandle twenty-one years her senior, in 1912. Willie became active in social and civic groups in Dallas after her four children were born. She was a board member of the Dallas Historical Society and president of the Dallas Shakespeare Club and the Founder’s Garden Club. Willie Lewis's most important contribution was her writing, which gave a glimpse of life in Texas shortly after 1900.

The Willie Newbury Lewis Narrative, 1935, is a pantomime entitled Texas in a Shadow Box in which the author tries to recreate in an authentic manner the old Texas frontier days.
