Biographical Note

Phillip P. Cook was a student at the University of Texas from 1910 to 1913. According to a written note on a sidelines pass, Mr. Cook was a photographer for the sports department during his student days. He later served in Word War I and worked for the Western Electric Company in Fort Worth.

Scope and Contents

The photographs in this collection include not only material about events and student life at UT, but also views of campus, including building construction and scenes around Austin. Some of these photographs were published in the Cactus Yearbook. In 1910, Mr. Cook also photographed Paris, Texas homes (some of which were destroyed in the Great Fire of 1916). Later photographs taken during the early years of World War I include aviation training at Kelly Field in San Antonio and battleships in Galveston Bay. The latest photographs relate to Mr. Cook’s post-war employment at the Western Electric Company in Fort Worth.
