Biographical Note
Born in Wichita, Kansas in 1934, Galen Seever (1934-1991) received an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from the University of Kansas in 1958. He completed a doctorate in 1963 at the University of California at Berkeley, under the advisorship of William G. Bade. He taught at the University of California, Los Angeles and the California Institute of Technology before coming to the University of Texas at Austin in 1970. A specialist in the field of functional analysis, Seever taught at UT until the late 1980s.

Scope and Contents
The collection's contents span the course of Seever's education and career. Included from his student work are course notes from Seever's days at the University of Kansas and the University of California at Berkeley, and notes leading up to the work of Seever's Ph. D. dissertation, "Measures on F-Spaces." Items related to his academic career include further research notes and research materials, such as preprints and unpublished reports from other mathematicians, course materials from Seever's classes at UT, as well as correspondence and other related personal and professional papers.
