Historical Note

The Amarillo Central Labor Union served as a central organizing body for labor unions affiliated with the American Federation of Labor in the Amarillo, Texas area. Delegates from affiliated labor unions attended meetings to discuss and consider labor issues and the activities of labor unions in the city.

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of an incomplete set of photocopied minutes that record and describe the proceedings of meetings held by the Amarillo Central Labor Council from 1944 to 1956. Topics of meetings generally included roll calls of officers and delegates; officer reports; committee reports; communications; new business; sick, accident, and death reports; good and welfare reports; and financial updates. Some correspondence and delegate credentials are scattered throughout the minutes.
