Abstract: The collection is focused on live performance and studio recordings of The Nelsons Personnel included Greg Galbraith and then Kevin Mackey on drums, guitarist John Sprott, Dennis Jones on bass and vocalist Donnie Allison. MTV Basement Tapes semi-finals winners in 1983 for "I Don't Mind," the band split up in 1991.

Biographical Sketch

Steve Moss, Lubbock native educated at Texas Tech, started his own production company in Dallas. Besides The Nelsons, he was known for televised music specials including "Mickey Gilley's 4th of July Picnic", "The Texas Music Awards", "MTV's Amuck in America" and the "Live at Nick's" series for Showtime. He also worked with B. B. King, Willie Nelson, Oak Ridge Boys, Commodores, ZZ Top, James Brown, Los Lobos, Joan Jett, INXS, The Fabulous Thunderbirds and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Since, he has become one of the top live sports and music performance directors in a variety of genres (Justin Bieber to Coachella to rodeo to pro beach volleyball).

Scope and Content

The collection comprises professional audio tape recordings of the Nelsons, both live and studio-produced, in a variety of formats. The collection is in good condition and is part of the Crossroads of Music archive.
