These Mexican-American War
lithographs are part of the publication The war between the
United States and Mexico illustrated, embracing pictorial drawings of all
principal conflicts, by George Wilkins Kendall, published by Appleton
& Co. of New York and Philadelphia. The twelve hand-colored prints are based on
paintings created by artist Carl Nebel and were printed and lithographed by Alfred
Lemercier and Adolphe Jean Baptiste Bayot around 1851. The images are of battles of
the Mexican-American War. Prints from this collection have been digitized and are
part of the Texas Digital Archive. |

These Mexican-American War lithographs are part of the publication The war between the United States and Mexico illustrated,
embracing pictorial drawings of all principal conflicts, by George
Wilkins Kendall, published by Appleton & Co. of New York and Philadelphia. The
twelve hand-colored prints are based on paintings created by artist Carl Nebel and
were printed and lithographed by Alfred Lemercier and Adolphe Jean Baptiste Bayot
around 1851. The images are of battles of the Mexican-American war and include the
Battle of Palo Alto, the Capture of Monterey, the Battle of Buena Vista, the
Bombardment of Vera Cruz, the Battle of Cerro Gordo, the Assault of Contreras, the
Battle of Churubusco, the Battle of Molino del Rey, the Battle of Chapultepec, and
General Winfield Scott's entrance into the main plaza in Mexico.
