Biographical Note

Glendolen Rogers Chapman was a native of Wichita Falls. She has been married to a native of Wichita Falls, William Chapman for over 59 years.

At the age of eleven as a hobby, Glendolen Rogers created four scrapbooks on the 1836-1936 Texas Centennial Fair of which Dallas, Texas was the host city. As part of the collection, Glendolen has a program from Billy Rose’s musical “The Last Frontier” held at Casa Manana in Fort Worth. Since the family enjoyed music they probably attended this event.

Later in her career, she graduated from Columbia University with a masters in music. She was a teacher for over thirty years. Her last music teaching assignments were in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas at L. O. Donald and Daniel Webster Elementary Schools. Glendolen Rogers Chapman enjoyed her work of scrapbooking which is reflected in the newspaper articles, post cards, and other materials in the Texas Centennial Scrapbooks
