Cordelia DeGress Booth was a longtime Austin resident with an interest in photography. She was born in 1873 in Texas to a father from Germany and a mother from Mississippi. She attended St. Mary's Academy, graduating in 1891 with a gold medal in history. She married Charles Edwin booth in 1893 and the couple honeymooned in New Orleans. C. Edwin Booth (1866-1942) was originally from Alabama and was a merchant for wholesale furniture. The couple had a son, Charles J. Booth, born 1894; daughter Edna M. Booth, born 1897; and a second daughter, Frances Booth Hawkins who was born in 1901 and died in 1945. Cordelia attended UT as an older student in 1913 and was a member of the Newman Club. Later in life she lived in Waco and Hidalgo, Texas.
36 black-and-white and sepia toned photographs by Cordelia DeGress Booth depict the creeks of Austin and the surrounding area, buildings at the University of Texas, and the Capitol. The majority of the images are of waterways and nature scenes in and around Austin at locations such as Barton Creek, Bull Creek, Bear Creek (including Sentinel Rock), the Colorado River, Hamilton Pool, the cave at Hammett's Crossing, Lake Austin, Mount Bonnell, Onion Creek, and Shoal Creek. A few photos depict locations at UT, including the Old Main Building, Battle Hall, and pathways. There is one photo present of the Capitol dome. The photographs were apparently taken during Booth's time at UT which was around 1913.
