Biographical Note

E.B. Noble was a resident of Biloxi, Mississippi. Gideon W. Haberlin lived in Austin in the early 20th century. Around 1905-1906 he was an engineer on the Houston & Texas Central Railroad.

Scope and Contents

9 black and white photographs mounted on cardstock with handwritten captions document locations in Cuba related to the Spanish-American War. Photo 001 is a "view of a bone yard in the Scristobal Colon Cemetery near Havana, Cuba." Photo 002 is a group of men in uniform gathered in a camp. Photo 003 is a parade of the 7th Army Corps in Jacksonville, Florida. Photo 004 is "Fireman's Monument in Cristobal Colon Cemetery" near Havana. Photo 005 is a "scene in Morro Castle showing the entrance, the barred cells on the side and the cannon balls stacked in the Spanish Enclosure." Photo 006 is "a good picture of the wreck [of the Maine] as seen in the 'Harbor of Habana'." Photo 007 is "a scene in the Cristobal Colon Cemetery showing the grave of the deceased sailors of the Battleship Maine. The grave is the raised mound on which the soldiers are sitting." Photo 008 is a "view of the Harbor of Habana with Morro Castle in the distance." Photo 009 is "Cristobal Colon Cemetery showing bones of deceased 'Cuban Patriots.' Bones now covered by command of U.S. Gov't." Photo 003 was taken by the Ensminger Brothers of Jacksonville, Florida. Photos 004-009 were taken by George Andrew of Jacksonville, Florida.


Photos were arranged and numbered in the order they were received.
