Get A Scan Restrictions and Policies

Through this service UT Faculty, Students and Staff can receive a scan of an article or book chapter from the print collections of the UT Libraries.

Please note the following restrictions:
  • Books on reserve are not eligible for the Get A Scan service
  • Only one article or chapter per request form submitted
  • We cannot scan chapters from books that you currently have checked out
  • There is no rush processing available for the Get A Scan service
  • Requests for entire books submitted systematically chapter by chapter are a copyright violation and will be cancelled
  • Get A Scan is not a replacement for course required textbooks

Please provide as complete a citation as possible. If you lack information for a required field you can enter a question mark or N/A. A citation can often be verified using Google Scholar.

Use the Article/Chapter request form on the ILS request system Get A Scan

There is no limit to the number of requests you can place, but no more than 10 requests will be processed for each patron in one day. Only one article or chapter can be submitted per request. Requests will be filled within three business days.
