Summer Library Privileges
The Libraries extends summer privileges to University of Texas at Austin students who were enrolled for spring, even if they are not enrolled for the summer semester. Spring graduates also retain privileges over the summer.
Library services available include:
- regular student check-out privileges
- access to Interlibrary Services
- access to University of Texas Libraries databases and Ebooks. (This does not include McCombs Funded Resources.)
- access to computer labs
- use of studies, carrels or lockers under the guidelines that apply to enrolled students
Students who withdraw during the spring semester do not have library privileges over the summer; their privileges resume when they re-enroll.
Check-out and renewal
As during the long semester, a current valid University of Texas at Austin ID is required to check out materials. Students may continue to renew material online.
Regular library policies apply: borrowers are responsible for returning recalled materials by mail if they are away from Austin. Failing to respond to email notifications may result in library fines and financial bars, which will not be excused. Students may update addresses using the Registrar Services Online.
To report problems with check-out or renewal, contact PCL Borrower Services, PCL 2.122, (512) 495-4300.
Privileges for spring and fall
Student library privileges are available in spring and fall to enrolled students only; privileges for summer and fall graduates will end at the beginning of the following semester.
Courtesy Borrower Privileges
Former students who wish to use the UT Libraries beyond the summer may apply for a Courtesy Borrower card. The annual fee for Courtesy Borrower privileges is $100.00, but the card may be obtained for free with a current membership with the Texas Exes, or through a reciprocal borrowing program called TexShare.
New graduates typically receive a complimentary one-year membership with the Texas Exes; visit their website for more information.
