Biographical / Historical Note

Martin E. Muske (1919-1985), served in the U.S. Army's 42nd Infantry Division during World War II. He trained at Camp Wolters, Texas, and in Hawaii and Australia. Muske subsequently fought New Guinea and the Philippines. He is buried in Grand Rapids, North Dakota.

Content Description

The Martin Muske papers, 1942-1945, 1980-1988, comprise materials relating to Muske's service the 42nd Infantry Division during World War II. The papers include issues of the Taro Leaf newsletter from the 1980s and a souvenir book of military life in Hawaii. Also included are photographs of Muske's military unit at Camp Wolters, Texas, as well as photographs of army life. The collection includes one letter to Muske's sister Adeline.
