Biographical Note

G. Rollie White (1875-1965) was a rancher and businessman whose activities included cattle sales, banking, thoroughbred horse breeding and racing, and participation in a wide range of agricultural and ranching partnerships. White was a community leader in his home town of Brady, Texas, where he owned the Commercial National Bank. He participated in ranching industry organizations, serving as a director of the Texas Livestock Marketing Association, the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association, and the Texas and Southwest Cattle Raisers Association, and in cattle-industry financial service providers, including the Stock Yards Loan Company and National Finance Credit Corporation. From 1925 to 1955 White was also a member of the board of directors of Texas A & M University, from which he graduated in 1895, and was its president from 1945 to 1955.

The eldest son of William Berry (1849-1899) and Laura Thompson (1850-1921) White, G. Rollie White married Victoria Bingham (1877-1961) in 1908. The Whites had no children, and after G. Rollie White's death a portion of his estate was used to establish the G. Rollie White Trust, which supports scholarships at Texas A & M and other educational and cultural endeavors.
