Mary Wil Hopkins Non-subversive Oath, 1958
During the Cold War, McCarthy-era policies swept through the federal government in an attempt to eliminate communist sympathies. Some public school systems had faculty sign loyalty oaths to the effect that members were not affiliated with the Communist Party. The Mary Wil Hopkins non-subversive oath is an example.

The Mary Wil Hopkins non-subversive oath is a loyalty oath for the Dallas Independent School District signed in September 1958 that attests that the affiant has no affiliation with the Communist Party.
