Stephen Dean is a co-founder of the nonprofit Texas Dance Hall Preservation and
author of Historic Dance Halls of East Central Texas
(2014). Dean has documented more than 800 dance halls in Central Texas and has
owned, managed, and booked music venues including Sengelmann Hall, Swiss Alp Hall,
and Schroeder Hall.
Clifford Antone (1949-2006) founded Antone's Blues Club in Austin, Texas, in 1975, to
create a haven for blues music. Since its opening, the venue has promoted new and
established blues musicians including Muddy Waters, B.B. King, and Stevie Ray
Vaughn. Antone's sister Susan Antone heads the club's board of directors.

The Stephen Dean Music Collection, 1976-1996, consists of 73 posters from Antone's
Blues Club in Austin, Texas. During this time, the club was located at 6th and
Brazos streets (1975-1979), Great Northern Boulevard (1980), and Guadalupe Street
(1981-1996). Artists featured in the collection include blues singers
Muddy Waters, B.B. King, and Bobby "Blue" Bland, as well as Stevie Ray Vaughn,
Barbara Lynn, and Toni Price. The collection includes a number of posters marking
the club's anniversaries, as well as tribute concerts for artist Clifton Chenier and
restaurant owner C.B. "Stubb" Stubblefield.
