The Griscom Speakers' goals were to promote and perpetuate women's speech activities at UT and to provide an outlet for the expression of speech interests through semester planning of the organization. To join the Griscom Speakers, the woman had to be a student at UT and gain majority vote of the club after a tryout of an original or interpretive speech. The first president of the Griscom Speakers was Elizabeth Grossman.
