![]() A Guide to the Cinematexas International Short Film and Video Festival Records
Historical NoteAdministrative records document the Austin-based festival from its inception in 1995 until it ended in 2007. Beginning as a tiny student showcase, the festival grew rapidly, mutating with each new edition. The competition program was a forum for collaborations and for exposing audiences to radical forays in cinema. Cinematexas sought out and rewarded films that provoked, exposed, and explored the short format as a genre in itself. Although their first and primary focus was short film, over the years Cinematexas championed the notion that artistic expression cannot be confined to a camera, projector and a screen.
