Rupert C. Robertson was born on March 31, 1895. As a student at the University of Texas from 1914 to 1917, Robertson
was a track letterman and member of Sigma Delta Psi. He was also a member Kappa Alpha (Omicron chapter), where his
fraternity brothers included notable UT athletes such as Clyde Littlefield and Gus “Pig” Ditmar. He left the university
in 1917 to join the Army Air Corp. He was stationed in Omaha, Nebraska as 2nd Lieutenant with an observation balloon
unit. He lived in Marlin, Texas from 1942 to 1952. Robertson died on January 10, 1968.

The papers contain Rupert Cook Robertson’s military diaries from 1917 to 1922, a photograph of Robertson in
military uniform circa 1918, a memo book of daily expenses from January 1945 to December 1947, select photocopies
and transcripts of college essays about experiences at the University of Texas from 1914 to 1916, and a biography
of Robertson written by his son, Jack C. Robertson, in 2012.
The military diaries include accounts of Army life, income, and living expenses from 1917 to 1922, as well as pre-printed
pages with information on rank insignia, semaphore codes, metric weights and measures, and some French vocabulary.
