Biographical NoteAnnie Williams married Sidney Border in about 1870, and the couple had seven children: Pearl; William Mell "Pappy", who married Jenny Morrow Hudgins in about 1911; Bessie, who married Joel Hudgins; Sue; Mary; Carrie; and Sidney. Sidney Border was the son of Sarah and brother of George, who married Bettie. Alice's siblings include J. A., who married Alice Border; Mary C. (Mollie); Amanda, who became Mrs. Dick and bore Katie; and Harriet, who married William Hawkins and bore Alice, May, and Laura. Family friends include sisters Roxie Alexander, Mollie G. (Alexander) Collins, and Laura J. (Alexander) Vincent. After the Civil War, the Vincent family relocated from Texas to Tuspan Valley, Mexico. Return to the Table of Contents Scope and ContentsTwo hundred and twenty-five letters and associated documents reflect the lives of the Border, Williams, and Alexander families in Texas, Louisiana, and Mexico from 1866 to 1893. Early correspondence is comprised primarily of letters to Annie Williams, her sister Mary (Mollie) Williams, and their brother J. A. Williams from friends, including M. G. and Roxie Alexander and their sister Laura J. Vincent. Correspondence after 1870 is comprised mainly of letters to Annie and Sidney from members of the Williams and Border families, including J. A. and Alice Williams, George and Bettie Border, and Sarah Border. Also included are letters from Annie's other sisters Amanda Dick and Harriet Hawkins, as well as letters from J. A.
