![]() A Guide to the Betty Thompson Papers
Biographical NoteA pioneer in women's athletics at the University of Texas, Betty Thompson was a professor of kinesiology and health education as well as director of the Division of Recreational Sports. She chaired the committee that established a department for women's intercollegiate athletics at the University, and served as interim director of the newly established department in 1974-1975. Thompson was also instrumental in the planning and development of several sports facilities on the University of Texas campus. She died in 1989.
