Biographical Note

Adolf Fuchs (1805-1885) came to Texas from Koelzow, Germany, in 1845, first settling in Austin County and then moving to Burnet County in 1853. He was a pastor and composer.

Scope and Contents

Correspondence, sheet music, a ledger, personal narratives, poems, pictorial materials and a sermon document the Fuchs family of German-born Texans. Included are records of the Fuchs farm (1882-1885); a diary (1881-1882) of Adolf Fuch's daughter-in-law, Caroline Romberg Fuchs; and Adolf Fuchs' musical compositions. Correspondence relates to personal matters and Texas politics.
