Biographical Note

Jerry Seltzer (1932-2019) worked as a roller derby executive, promoter, movie producer, and ticket entrepreneur. His father, Leo Seltzer, founded the original Roller Derby League in 1935, and Jerry assumed ownership of the league in 1959. Jerry would head the league until it was dismantled in 1973. During this period he founded the San Francisco Bay Bombers, one of the most legendary clubs in the history of roller derby. Even after he left the sport Jerry continued to support roller derby and lobbied for its inclusion in the Olympic games.
