Records contain minutes, financial records, and correspondence of the San Antonio AFL-CIO Council and one of its predecessors, the San Antonio Trades Council, as well as constitutions and minutes of the Bexar County Non-Partisan Political Conference.

Historical Note

The San Antonio AFL-CIO Council was a central organizing body formed on November 14, 1957 by the merger of the San Antonio Trades Council of the American Federation of Labor and the local CIO central body. The Bexar County Non-Partisan Political Conference was formed in 1920 and attempted to unite various unions in Bexar County, Texas for the purpose of electing candidates friendly to labor.

Records contain minutes, financial records, and correspondence of the San Antonio AFL-CIO Council and one of its predecessors, the San Antonio Trades Council; and constitutions and minutes of the Bexar County Non-Partisan Political Conference. Materials document the activities of the organizations. Topics range from reports from and about local unions, businesses, and national organizations to general labor issues and conditions and include legislation, individual members, representatives of participating locals, elections, and financial and organizational matters.
