Biographical Sketch

The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest of the colleges at Texas Tech, and provides a large variety of programs and courses in the arts, communications, humanities, mathematics, natural sciences, and social and behavioral sciences. The purpose of the Arts and Sciences faculty is to help students solve problems, think, and communicate, while imparting the knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes that constitute a liberal education.

Scope and Content

This 10 box collection consists of office files from the College of Arts and Sciences. The files contain correspondence, budget materials, departmental statistics, courses and reports, and printed material. It documents the early growth and development of Texas Technological College into the first part of World War II. Of particular interest are the files on the Lubbock Sanitarium, an local hospital that contracted to care for Texas Technological College students, and the West Texas Hospital. Also included are 20 prints.
