Biographical Sketch

Marion Sanchez (formerly Marion Sanchez-Lozano) (1963-) is a local business woman, entrepreneur, and government worker who, with her marketing and advertising company, Estilo Communications, as well as other commercial ventures, has been an important part of the Latinx business community in Austin since the early 1990’s. Sanchez began her career in communications as a radio personality for local station KELG in the mid-1980s, creating programming that focused on the needs and issues that were affecting the local Hispanic community. Through her radio show she recognized a lack of communications agencies that targeted the Latino population and so, in 1989, she founded Estilo Communications to fill this local need. Estilo Communications handled translation and design for several large local campaigns including Capital Metro, the Austin I.S.D Bond Program, the City of Austin, and the Austin Fire Department, among others. This work and Sanchez's involvement with the local business community landed her and Estilo Communications a Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce Small Business Award in 1997 and the Judge's Special Award at the BiG 2000 Micro-business Awards.

In 2010, Sanchez earned her degree in Literature and Communications from Huston-Tillotson University and went on to pursue her Master’s Degree at St. Edward’s University. She decided to close Estilo Communications for good in 2014 and as of 2018, she is the Community Engagement Manager for the City of Austin Communications and Public Information Office. In addition to this work, Sanchez has opened a new company called GenSuccess which provides motivational consulting to individuals and businesses.
