Detailed Description of the Collection
Danze & Davis Architects, Inc. Drawings
An Inventory of the Collection
Leopold Danze, a New York City native, graduated with a bachelor's degree in architecture from the University of Texas in 1955. H. Ross Davis, an Amarillo, Texas native, graduated from the University of Texas with the same degree three years later. The two met as interns in the office of Austin architect Frank DeGroot. They started Danze & Davis Architects, Inc. in 1960 in Austin, Texas. Early on the firm specialized in residential projects and developed relationships with local home builders. Residential developments they worked on in the early 1960s include Windsor Park, Highland Park and Allendale. Work for their respective churches led to an increasing involvement in ecclesiastical projects. Their relationships with high-volume home builders allowed them to expand into speculative houses.
