Administrative HistoryKorean American Association of Greater Austin (KAAGA) is a civic organization dedicated to promoting Korean culture and serving its community in Austin, Texas. It was founded in 1983 and has also operated under these other names: Austin Korean Association and Korean American Association of Austin. Return to the Table of Contents Scope and ContentsThe Korean American Association of Greater Austin (KAAGA) collection contains directories, event fliers and press releases, newspaper clippings, advertisements, and programs. In addition there are photographs from events such as health fairs, senior citizens' events, and a sister city delegation's visit to Korea as well as a photo book on a memorial concert commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Korean War in 2010 and presentation materials and a photo book from a gala in 2011. Internal correspondence and announcements to members about activities comprises the bulk of the collection with over 100 documents. Also included are letters and reports to partnering individuals and organizations such as the Korean War Veterans, Austin City Council members, the Consulate General of Korea in Houston, and other Korean American civic organizations. And lastly financial reports show expenditures purchased for special events as well as routine expenses and records of membership dues. Return to the Table of Contents

File names were modified during processing to enable files to be exported from the disk image and to comply with Austin History Center file naming schema. A list of the original files names is available. The materials were processed in accordance with the AHC's digital processing guidelines including disk imaging, virus scan, and checksums.
