Archivists of Central Texas Records
An Inventory of the Collection
The Archivist of Central Texas is a professional organization composed of archivists in the greater Austin metro area. The goal of the organization is to increase contact and communication between archivists and those working with records, to provide opportunities for professional development, and to promote archival repositories and activities in the greater Austin area. The organization has had several incarnations through the years beginning with the Austin Archivists. The group was revitalized in 1989 as the Austin Archivists Associated and then again in 2007 as the Archivists of Central Texas.
The collection of the Archivists of Central Texas consists mainly of documents related to the organization, including financial and administrative records, membership records, newsletters, event programs and correspondence. Items in the collection date from 1988 to 2008 with most of the records dating from 1989 to 1995 and 2007 to 2008. Along with general business records the materials provide insight into the revitalization of the organization both in 1989 and again in 2007.
