Retired Officers' Wives Club of Austin Scrapbooks
An Inventory of the Collection
The club began in 1965 by the wives of retired military officers in the Austin area who found the transition to civilian life difficult. The club originally started as an informal group, but Mrs. John Carr organized it into a formal club. Events include games of bridge, "style shows" and a Valentine's Day dance.
The Retired Officers' Wives Club of Austin photo albums and scrapbook document various outings and events dating from 2003-2006, with a few photos from the late 1990's. There are pictures of fashion shows held throughout the years, as well as one-time events (speakers, a trip to the Houston Museum of Natural Science, a cruise, etc). Other events include birthdays, meetings, and luncheons.
